When decency matters… Biden-Harris 2021

Writing this now many days after the results came out from the US election for President. All the most respected and famous networks has since weeks (last Saturday) called the win for former Vice President Joe Biden and his selected Vice President Kamala Harris. It has been an emotional rollercoaster since the election day, following the incoming counts on MSNBC with the fenomenal Steve Kornacki. When on Saturday we finally heard the call from NBC News calling it for Biden, with more than 270 Electoral votes. What a day it was… fantastic feeling. A vote for humankind, decency, being a listener and proffesional matters. It was a vote from US population for Nature. For justice and against racism and nasty white supremacy. It was an amazing day with amazing news. We heard Berkeley waking up, honking cars, people shouting. We went out to celebrate at the house where Kamala Harris grew up in Berkeley until about 12 years old. We could truly feel how important and amazing her representation will be, not only for East Bay but for all women and people with all kinds of ancestry and colours of their skin ❤️ What it means for a person or especially a child to be able to point to the highest political positions of President/Vice President and say, “that could be me one day” and really believe it, is sometimes seemingly hard to translate or make people understand. As sad as it sounds, I will never understand that feeling, being a white man, having seen all possible positions being held by someone who looks very similar too me. It is also apparently impossible or not important enough for most white men to understand (seeing how they vote year after year). The work for diversity and minority representation and equality/equity continues and does not stop with the results. The work against prejudice and bias continues. But this Saturday was such an amazing moment of relief and joy, despite all the sadness covid19 brings, we felt some ignite of hope for the future and possibility to once again unite with more love and respect.

The house became a place for hours of dancing in joy and simply just relaxing for a day. A day of joy, and much relates to how uncertain and nasty the recent 4 years have been with the 45th in charge, not going into it all here. Some might say it is relative, and that the joy is just because the 45th lacks all that makes us human and true beings, but hearing Joe and Kamala talk the recent weeks and months it has been a true happiness seeing what they can bring. My expectations are not high when it comes to how much they can proceed with due to current senate situation, but be sure they will try and for sure bring: decency and respect, and most of all gather people that are both diverse and smart professionals, able to handling and working with ongoing pandemic and Climate Change.

The gathering was full of joy and safe distancing.

Looking forward now to January when they take over, and trying not to make the current shitshow that 45th still creates and clings onto with all its counter-argyments/lying and hypocracy to take over fully. Counting down the days… of course we need to get down to the issues eventually, but now with decency and science. Thank you for voting USA, thank you for voting for saving our precious Nature. There is hope ❤️

In the meantime we also focus on and gather energy from Nature and the beautiful Berkeley surroundings. The image below from todays Sunday sunset.
