Another day in the forest of giants…

Time goes on, pandemic continues to spread. In some places the situation is improved, as in controlling the spread and health effects of the virus, in some there are still spread and increasing cases of both severe sickness and deaths. I feel great sadness for the world and all the suffering. I also feel an emerging hope towards what we can achieve as global citizens together, if we work together. The unity of the human kind towards large catastrophies is known to work well, when we unite we overcome. The world does not need more people talking about how we are different, or how we need to separate more. With all that has been happening I had the pleasure to visit a calm space this week. We went to see the Avenue of Giants and the Redwood National forests, and the scene is amazing and breathtaking.

Nature shows its prime when having a chance to wander around among these giants, where they use to be (unfortunately massive areas were irresponsibly cut down back then for use in forest products for example make houses) or where they still are.

The giant redwoods that grows and has been growing in these parts of California is a reminder to us to protect important and valuable forest regions, for recreational and important nature connections. To experience the true power of trees and nature.

However, it is a reminder when passing through masses of forest, that we need to utilize this source of beauty for materials. We need to work with the forest in a smart and sustainable way, we cannot cut down without growing more. We must use sustainable methods, constantly updated from latest innovations and understanding of negative impacts. And why is that? Because the constant use of massive amounts of fossil resources is one part of the reason why we get a hotter planet, causing destruction of these beautiful forests with forest fires as part of regular life in these periodically dry regions in California and Oregon.

So the reminder of the greatness of nature comes with a large responsibility, to take care of our environment, whether it is not throwing garbage in nature or if it is using less water and renewable resources in sustainable ways. All things adds up and combined we need to create a sustainable society. The reason why protected areas like these National parks will not be there for our future generations would be due to our ignorance of the human impact on destroying the planet Earth, not that we cut them down for materials.

One major factor of using renewable resources is to source them smart and sustainable, and what we see more and more is that just as the oil business handles their oil like it is gold and precious, the forest industry understands that a nourishing and growing forest is a win-win situation for us all.

Take care y’all and take a walk in your closest forest and connect with that fantastic material.
